More and more research has focused on coffee's effects on health, but previous studies have often overlooked the distinction between whether sugar is added or not. In 2022, a team from Southern Medical University published a paper in the Annals of Internal Medicine, using data from more than 170,000 people in the UK Biobank to analyze the relationship between unsweetened, sugar-sweetened, and artificially sweetened coffee and mortality risk.
